Karen Corbin has recently been elected as Southern Axemen's Association president, the first woman in the associationâs history. The Southern Axemen's Association has elected the first female president in its 40-year history. Last weekend, via phone conference, Southland's Karen Corbin was elected president for the association that covers the entire South Island. She is well qualified for the role after being secretary of many branches of the sport, including the Southern Association, Southland-Otago Association and the women's and colts' sub committees. Regions represented in the Southern Association are Southland-Otago, Canterbury, West Coast-Buller and Nelson-Marlborough.
