A Tūrangi couple is prepared to invest nearly $1.5 million into a pop-up mall in a bid to boost and revitalise their town. They have named it Urban HQStuff-co-nz The hopes are that Urban HQ will be situated in the corner of the car park on Ohuanga and Te Rangitautahanga roads. The cost of a lease in Urban HQ would be "affordable" to help people kick-start their new ventures. Cozens said while feedback has been mostly positive – and some people have already shown interest in taking on a lease in the mall – there have been concerns raised that the new mall will take away from the current Tūrangi mall. “Once these start-up entities form a strong customer base, it is expected that they will migrate to the more permanent and larger rental units of the Tūrangi Mall,” he said.
