For the past six months, a flurry of activities is underway building the region’s railway network, sparked in part by China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The linkages of the Southeast Asian railway network will be a paradigm shift for the region. Apart from removing bottlenecks in the flow of goods between China and Southeast Asia, it has the potential to increase intra-regional trade.
