Mississippi’s Republican attorney general, in turn, has asked the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Last month, McMaster led a coalition of a dozen Republican governors submitting an amicus brief supporting Mississippi's law.
