Amy Baird, Charli Nevin and Jody Thompson were three top performing South Canterbury speed skaters at the New Zealand road and track championships in Hamilton. Keaton Swindell, after causing an upset to win the senior men's 300 time trial, almost won the 10,000 intermediate/senior 10,000 points elimination. In the intermediate titles, Ella Benson won the 500 metres and Charli Nevin the 1000. South Canterbury contested three of the four relays with impressive form in the junior girls as Baird, Thompson and Pippa Nevin won - a first NZ championship gold for Pippa. Swindells and McAuley were too good for the opposition in the senior men's while Clarke, Charli Nevin and O'Connor won the women's event.
