The scene of the crash where a Timaru was killed when his vehicle left State Highway 1 early on April 14. The motorist killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 in the Waimate district on Sunday was a Timaru man. Police said Ryan John Morgan, 31, died when the vehicle he was driving slid off the highway between Makikihi and the SH1 turnoff to the Waimate township at 4.15am and hit a power pole. He was the only occupant in the vehicle. The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
