An inaugural Muay Thai event was so successful, organisers are hoping to make it an annual fixture. More than 500 people packed into a sold out Caroline Bay Hall to witness the first Vendetta Muay Thai tournament in Timaru on Saturday. Lucky Nine Gym owner and event organiser Scott Tweedie said there was a very diverse crowd, with many attending their first Muay Thai event. Muay Thai has enjoyed a boost in profile latel, since being recognised by the International Olympic Committee, and is targeting entry to the Olympic Games in 2024.
