March 12, 2021 04:07 pm-A SARS-CoV-2 variant which belongs to the B.1.3.5.1 lineage and was first identified in South Africa has been detected in Sri Lanka, says Director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of Sri Jayewardenepura University Dr. Chandima Jeewandara. The virus variant was identified in an individual returning from Tanzania who is currently staying at a quarantine centre.
