It has exposed the psychopaths who do not mind ‘a few’ deaths while protecting economies, which in the first place benefit only a few. However, greater impact has been seen when these individual traits manifest among our leaders. In Kenya, there was initial reluctance to treat this illness with the seriousness it deserves, especially before it landed on our shores. One can only hope that the renewed commitment to protecting lives and livelihoods of Kenyans is the product of permanent learning and will serve as an important lesson to those that lead and aspire to lead this country. After this pandemic, one must expect similar considerations around political campaigns, around dealing with corrupt officials and around public finance.
