Addis Ababa – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Friday during a one-day working visit to Addis Ababa, officials said. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and Ethiopia, with particular emphasis on cooperation in security, political affairs, economic ties and regional issues. The two leaders also exchanged views on the broader situation in the Horn of Africa, discussing ongoing efforts to promote stability and lasting peace in the region. Both sides stressed the importance of sustaining cooperation based on mutual respect, good neighbourliness and shared interests, underscoring their commitment to enhancing peace, security and development across the Horn of Africa. The meeting forms part of Somalia’s continued diplomatic outreach to reinforce relations and cooperation with neighbouring countries, notably Ethiopia, which plays a key role in regional security and stability.
