Solar-agri projects to be launched in 10 African countries

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) and UN Development Programme (UNDP) have launched pilot projects focused on scaling solar applications for agriculture use in 10 African countries. It will be financially supported with $2 million, which ISA and UNDP have jointly secured. Ajay Mathur, ISA director-general, said: “Solar energy is the fastest-growing renewable energy source in Africa. “This initiative has the potential to become the epitome of South-South cooperation and demand aggregation employing ISA’s convening power. Expanding solar use in agriculture will reduce greenhouse gas emissions“I applaud this achievement.
