Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 11 people from Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi on Friday for financing terrorist activities via a software firm. Director of RAB (legal and media wing) Mufti Mahmud Khan said: “We detained the criminals during different operations in the districts between 5pm and 8pm. The detainees were involved with financing terrorist activities.”According to Mufti, the group has been financing the terrorist activities since 2005 through a software firm named I-backs. The owner of I-backs, Shariful Haque Sujon, died in Syria in December 2015. Shariful’s younger brother, Ataul Haque Shobuj, took charge of the business in 2015 and started operating branches of the company in Bangladesh and Spain.
