Social factors influencing child labor should be eliminated: Minister


The social factors influencing the occurrence of child labor should be eliminated, stated the Minister of Labor. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Labor says that the main social factor influencing the emergence of child labor in the world as well as in our country is the economic background of those families. The winners of the Child Labor Eradication Scout Medal Creating Competition organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association for the three age groups were also made public. Speaking further the Minister said that a special census will be conducted this year on the use of child labor in the country. Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that there is a very low level of recruitment and that the country should further develop that situation and take action to eradicate child labor in this country.
