Snow, thunderstorms to hit as weather turns foul

Along with snow there was a chance of thunderstorms across the South. If thunderstorms happened they would be accompanied by brief heavy rain, which would fall as snow as low as 300m, and hail. While it will get wet and wild, the cooler temperatures won't hit the North Island until Tuesday as the front slowly moves up New Zealand. Conditions are expected to ease later in the week but Little said the weather would remain changeable, typical for Spring. Philip Duncan of Weatherwatch.co.nz said a second cold front lands on Wednesday, followed by a third cold change on Saturday for the South Island and the lower North Island.
