State Highway 7, at the Hammer Springs Turnoff to Springs Junction on the Lewis Pass, shut on Sunday morning due to snow on the road. A number of weather warnings have been issued by MetService, including a heavy snow warning for the Marlborough region south of Seddon, and Canterbury north of the Rakaia River. Heavy snow watches had been issued for Taihape from 9pm Sunday through to 9pm Monday, and the Tararua and Remutaka ranges, including Remutaka Hill Road, from 6pm Sunday to 6pm Monday.
