Smoke in coach forces LRT-1 to unload passengers

Smoke coming out of one of the coaches of the Light Rail Transit line 1 (LRT-1) forced the management to unload passengers of the southbound commuter train at the Bambang Station on Satuday, an LRT official said. ADVERTISEMENTRochelle Gamboa, corporate communications head of LRT-1, confirmed to INQUIRER.net that smoke was seen in one of its trains on Saturday morning prompting the management to implement emergency measures. “Smoke confirmed and train was pulled out of the line for inspection,” Gamboa said in a text message. According to Gamboa, the Control Center has given instructions to “unload passengers, coordinate with Station Operations, deploy skip train, report the issue to Engineering, give instructions for pullout of the train, send the train to Depot.”A skip train was “immediately deployed” to assist the affected passengers at Bambang station following the incident. Gamboa noted that no passengers were reported hurt.
