Pacific Radiology is asking 60 Southland and Otago women to return for further breast screening assessments after it says it picked up performance issues with one of its radiologists. Mammograms within the screening programme, and all other breast imaging cases, were always read by at least two breast radiologists, she said. Pacific Radiology also reviewed the Southern District Health Board diagnostic and private breast imaging cases the doctor was involved with. “Southern DHB contracts Pacific Radiology to undertake diagnostic breast imaging services for women in our community. We will continue to work with Pacific Radiology to ensure women receive the care they need,” he said.
