As I write this piece on the morning of September 11th, my thoughts are with all of the first responders dealing with the ongoing hazards associated with Hurricane (and now Tropical Storm) Irma. Hurricane Irma made seven landfalls and each one was a major hurricane according to Weather Channel meteorologist, Jen Carfagno. The National Weather Service-Jacksonville reported that the current flooding exceeds the all-time record in downtown Jacksonville. The Doppler radar "rainfall footprint" indicates that Irma shifted a bit eastward and tracked more up the peninsula a bit more inland. Kudos to the National Hurricane Center and other NOAA/private organizations that provided credible information as the storm unfolded.
