About a dozen employees from the Department of National Defence occupied the constituency office of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his Papineau riding Thursday morning and demanded a meeting. Instead, after meeting with Trudeau's executive assistant, they were told the prime minister would be able to meet with them later in the day. Toward the end of the day, six hours after the employees first occupied his office, Trudeau met with the group for about 15 minutes. They do, however, want to see action to resolve the many issues that have plagued the Phoenix system. A spokesperson for the prime minister said he would not describe the incident as a normal occurrence, but in this instance the prime minister thought it would be the right thing to do.
