New Delhi, Feb. 10: A single entrance exam will be conducted for all 3,500 engineering colleges in the country from next year, with the Centre issuing orders to this effect today. The National Entrance Examination for Engineering and Architecture (NEEEA) will replace all existing tests, including those held by Bengal and several other states, for B.Tech seats in government and private colleges. It will also replace entrance tests conducted by various private engineering varsities and taken by nearly 25 lakh students every year. The National Eligibility-cum -Entrance Test (NEET), the single exam for MBBS courses, is held in 10 languages including Bengali, Odia and Assamese. "A national-level single test may not be accepted by all states.
