Singapore's PUB requests for proposals for 5th desalination plant

SINGAPORE (Feb 7): Singapore’s national water agency has requested for proposals for the development of the fifth desalination plant in the country, from four pre-qualified applicants. The pre-qualified applicants include Keppel Infrastructure Holdings, Sembcorp Utilities, Tuas Power, and YTL Power International. The successful applicant would then enter into a 25-year water purchase agreement to supply desalinated water to PUB. The plant will also be co-located within the successful applicant’s existing power plant or steam generation plant on Jurong Island, for improved synergies in seawater intake, outfall structures, or energy usage. Upon completion, the plant will add another 30 million imperial gallons of desalinated water (mgd) a day to the local water supply.
