Singapore firm serves warrant of arrest on PDZ ship - Business News


KUALA LUMPUR: Dan-Bunkering (Singapore) Pte Ltd has served warrant of arrest on PDZ Holdings Bhd 's vessel “PDZ Mewah” over the supply of marine fuel oil and/or marine gas oil to the vessel.PDZ said on Wedesday the board was seeking legal advice and intends to take steps to defend the arrest of vessel and any claims that may subsequently be filed and set it aside.The company said the arrest of the vessel was not expected to have material impact on the financial position of the company and its subsidiaries for the current financial year ending Dec 31, 2017.On Tuesday, PDZ was served with a writ in admiralty action in rem and the warrant of arrest for the vessel.According to http://www.supremecourt.gov.sg/rules/court-processes/civil-proceedings/other-civil-proceedings-and-processes/admiralty-proceedings the admiralty jurisdiction of the High Court may be invoked in accordance with the provisions ofHigh Court (Admiralty Jurisdiction) Act .Admiralty proceedings may take the form of an action against a ship (action in rem) or against a person (action in personam). In some cases, admiralty proceedings may be commenced both against a ship and against a specific person or persons.
