The sport has grown in the Nelson-Tasman region since Nelson Bays Catchball was started in 2018. Catchball players in the Nelson-Tasman region started their term 3 league with a fun tournament that raised funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation. Nelson Bays Catchball co-ordinator Muriel Ronen, who brought catchball to New Zealand in 2018, said $100 was donated to the foundation from the Pink for a Day event. Catchball, which started in Israel in 2005, is similar to volleyball, but easier because catching and throwing replace bumping, setting and spiking. Anyone interested in joining could find details on the Nelson Bays Catchball Facebook page or email muriel.ronen@gmail.com to contact Ronan.
