America has begun preparing for a major attack on the nation's capital - by simulating incoming missiles and hijacked airplanes. US defense contractor Northrop Grumman announced the successful test of its Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) this month. The Beltway-area around Washington DC, known by defense personnel as the 'National Capital Region,' was successfully defended against 'simulated cruise missiles and 'compromised aircraft,' the company said. ttIBCS is the centerpiece of the U.S. Army's modernization strategy for air and missile defense, according to Northrop Grumman. 'Through the recent National Capital Region demonstrations,' Torzone elaborated, IBCS proved its capabilities in providing homeland defense against cruise missiles and other aerial threats.'
