TORONTO — Hockey Canada has named Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby as captain for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. Crosby served as captain on Canada’s gold-medal winning team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and was an alternate captain when Canada won gold in Vancouver in 2010. He also wore the “C” as Canada claimed gold at the 2015 world championship. Crosby, 29, has won two Stanley Cup championships since becoming captain of the Penguins during the 2007-08 season. The World Cup of Hockey starts Sept. 17 in Toronto.
