SIBU: Fed up with the theft of trees and shrubs lining roads and public places, the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) is collaborating with a local developer to provide free saplings to residents. “I have spoken to Distrepark Sdn Bhd, the master developer of SibuJaya Township, to provide free saplings to residents and they have agreed,” he said. For a start, 1,000 free saplings have been allocated for residents who must prove they live in the township. Even though certain roads had been handed over to SRDC, the developer continued to support the council by providing additional landscaping support. To collect the free saplings, residents can visit the developer’s office at Lot 1191, Jalan SibuJaya Timur or call 084-235 888 for details.
