India batsman Shubman Gill was reportedly given an ultimatum by the team management following his duck in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test against England in Hyderabad. Gill hasn't been in great form in Test cricket since he scored a century against Australia at home in early 2023, failing at the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, too. Then, after Yashasvi Jaiswal broke into the team, Gill was handed the opportunity to make the No.3 position his own given Cheteshwar Pujara's string of poor scores. According to a report from IndianExpress, Gill was running out of time - and opportunities - to save his spot in the Test team. “I will go and play the Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat in Mohali," Gill told one of his family members as quoted by IndianExpress.
