A mobile court has seized a huge consignment of shrimp injected with jelly substances from Khulna city. Executive Magistrate Jakir Hossain, who led the drive, said they had seized 38 mounds of shrimp that had been injected with harmful jelly substances from two fish storages in the city on Saturday. During the drive, four workers of the storages – Iran Fish Enterprise and Masuma Fish Enterprise – were caught in the act. The seized jelly-injected shrimp consignment has been destroyed, he said, adding that a regular case would be filed against Iran Fish Enterprise. Jelly substances are injected in shrimps to make them appear fresh and for increasing their weight.
