On August 4, Shkreli went home, having posted $5 million bail, and he promptly resumed his social media presence, tweeting and posting on Facebook. The lesson for Millenials is how Shkreli used, or actually misused, social media landed him in jail, and how manipulating information reported to investors resulted in a felony conviction. Instead, a jury convicted Shkreli of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud. Millenials with their unbreakable attachment to social media can learn much from Shkreli’s relentless use of Twitter, rather than making the mistakes themselves. Given the prevalent use, and often misuse and abuse, of social media among the Millennial generation, Shkreli’s incriminating tweets and relentless use of Twitter provide useful lessons.
