Over 20 people were in the boat when the incident happened. At least eight persons drowned and four others were missing when a coracle (small boat) carrying them for the immersion of a Ganesha idol sank in the Tungabadhra river near Hadonahalli in Shivamogga on Wednesday, police said. On Thursday, ANI reported that 8 dead bodies has been recovered from the Tungabhadra river. More than 20 people were in the coracle when the incident happened. Those who are on the shores are also seen jumping into the river to rescue.
