The sheep that was torched initially survived its horrific ordeal and later had to be euthanised to put it out of its misery. Police said the incident had caused distress to the farmer, whose sheep were targeted at Surfleet Marsh in Spalding. Investigators believe a 4X4 vehicle was driven onto a field where three sheep were run over, killing one. The farmer had also reported eight sheep missing, he added. Officers believe the missing livestock were either stolen or may have been chased into the River Welland.
