The clashes stemmed from a feud over high-speed motorbike driving in Boroikandi area. The deceased were Masuk Miah, 50, vice-president of District Shechhasebak League, and Babul Miah, 35, both from Boroikandi. Of the injured, Sujel Ahmed, Rubel Miah, Salimuddin, Tayed Ali, Abul Kaher, Nazimuddin, Ahmed Hussain, Tajul Islam, Ilias and Dulal Ahmed were brought to hospital. When taken to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet, a duty doctor declared Masuk and Babul dead. Both were supporters of Gaus Miah.
