Shaurya’s father withdraws case

more-inFour months after 7-year-old Shaurya Singh died of Dengue at Medanta Medicity, his father Gopendra Singh Parmar has withdrawn the complaint against the hospital. Mr. Parmar gave a written statement to Medanta in a quid pro quo agreement under which the hospital refunded ₹15 lakh the family spent on treatment. The settlement came as the Haryana government concluded that there was not enough evidence to pursue the medical negligence case filed by the family. The Haryana government’s report, reviewed by The Hindu, ignores the investigation by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Agency (NPPA), which concluded that Medanta had made profits up to 1737%. I barely have money to keep my family afloat and I cannot spend years chasing the case through legal system,” said the distraught father.
