Sharad Yadav set to host 'secular alliance' meet, target JD(U)

NEW DELHI: Having rebelled against JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar 's decision to swap "secular" alliance for BJP, Sharad Yadav is likely to host the next big gathering of the opposition after it decided to launch a joint campaign against the ruling party.Sharad Yadav has called a conclave on 'sanjhi virasat bachao' (save composite culture) at Constitution Club in the capital. Invitations have been sent to 16 "like-minded" parties among others. The conclave, conceived as a protest against Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's decision to junk the "secular" alliance, is likely to feature senior opposition members. Speculations are that leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad may attend the meeting. Though the latter lacks a support base of the nature of other mass leaders, his stature as a senior leader from the Mandal camp is seen as a political asset which, coupled with the backing of other opposition parties, could provide ballast for their campaign in Bihar.
