A team of 22 young policewomen, known as Shakthi team, has been commissioned in Krishna district to come to the rescue of women facing eve-teasing or other harassment at public places. Superintendent of Police Sarvasresth Tripathy on Monday launched the Shakthi team at the District Police Grounds. Each divisional headquarters will have four to five Shakthi team members, keeping an eye on eve-teasers and those subjecting women to any type of harassment at public places. “Every member of the Shakthi team will have a two-wheeler for mobility to attend any complaint. The grievances received through helpline 100 would be forwarded to the Shakthi team for necessary action.
