Shaken, stirred and jazzed up for Nelson Jazz FestivalSupplied Eight piece band The Wellington's Shake-Em-On Downers have brought the traditional music of New Orleans and early jazz to New Zealand since 2011. Big bands and big sounds will provide plenty of holiday entertainment for locals and visitors as the Nelson Jazz Festival swings into action. supplied Christchurch jazz singer Jennine Bailey is one of the acts playing at the Nelson Jazz Festival. The Nelson Big Band will be the concert's opening act, followed by T-Bone Kate & Sizzlers from Nelson, the Steve Mitchell Band, also from Nelson, and the Kiwi Craig Walters Quartet, with The Wellington City Shake-'Em-On-Downers closing the evening. The Nelson Jazz Festival takes place from January 3 to 6 at different venues throughout the region.
