Buskers Festival going strong in the southJohn Hawkins Busking daredevils Jonathon Taylor and Anne Goldman perform in the 2017 Southland Buskers Festival. Totting up the number of festivals she's overseen is proving challenging for Southland Buskers Festival director Jodi Wright, and with good reason. Having founded and run Christchurch's World Buskers Festival for 22 years before stepping down in 2015, and also sitting at the helm of the city's long-running New Zealand International Jazz and Blues Festival, Wright is a seasoned co-ordinator of grand-scale entertainment. Add to that eight years of the Southland Buskers Festival in Invercargill - a kind of World Buskers Festival in miniature - and her shaky mathematics starts to look perfectly reasonable. "I pitched the idea of the Southland Buskers Festival to a few people in Invercargill 10 years ago, and they all came on board to support it.
