KUALA LUMPUR: Former national forward Shaharuddin Abdullah hopes that his son, Shafiq Shaharuddin will be given more opportunities to shine and show his what he is truly capable of with Kelantan this season. Shaharuddin, 69, said that he is confident Shafiq has what it takes to be a great forward if he is given the chance to play more often because he believes that his son has inherited his footballing talents. However, after six matches, Shaharuddin’s wish of seeing his son break into The Red Warriors first eleven has not materialised just yet. In both matches, Shafiq who came on as a substitute, left quite an impact as Kelantan’s attack became more potent. In fact he even scored The Red Warriors second goal against Terengganu which they won 2-0.
