Chinese citizen Wu Keying suffered serious injuries when she was stabbed in the abdomen and hand during a struggle with her intended lover. Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah meted out the sentence after Didi pleaded guilty to the offence at the Sessions Court here. The offence falls under Section 394 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum 20-year jail sentence, fine and caning upon conviction. However, deputy public prosecutor Kamarul Aris Kamalluddin pressed for a deterrent sentence, saying that the accused had committed a serious offence. “The victim had suffered serious injuries and the court must consider public interest in this case,” he said.
