Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for some areas of southern Alberta on Friday evening, and watches for other communities nearby. The warning for severe thunderstorms, issued at about 7:30 p.m., include:Mountain View County near Airdrie and Cochrane, including near Carstairs and Stirlingville. Drumheller and Three Hills area, including areas near Irricana, Beiseker and Kathyrn. Meteorologists with the agency said some of the affected areas could see strong wind gusts, up to nickle-sized hail and heavy rain. Other areas, including Calgary, are under watch for severe thunderstorms that could see large hail and heavy rain.
