'Sesame Street' returning to NZ screens

It's axing from now defunct channel Four led to an outcry by parents, but Sesame Street will return to our screens very soon. "Two sad and upset girls here, and two p***ed off parents," wrote one viewer on Facebook. "Whilst we can't see Sesame Street anymore, [we] certainly know that MediaWorks and TV3 are Muppets." A spokesperson for TV2 today confirmed that Sesame Street would start screening on its network from 6.30am on September 12. After premiering in 1969, Sesame Street has screened for 46 seasons and turned characters like Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch into icons.
