Senior aide to Kamala Harris quits after $400,000 harassment settlement is revealed

A senior aide to Sen. Kamala Harris resigned this week after it was revealed he had been part of a $400,000 'gender harassment' lawsuit after repeatedly asking a staffer to crawl under his desk to change his printer paper. Danielle Hartley accused Wallace of demeaning behavior in the suit filed on Dec. 30, 2016 in California. She had begun working for Wallace several years prior in 2011, and suit does not say when the harassment began and ended. A $400,000 settlement was offered even though Becerra said that Hartley had 'unreasonably failed to utilize the procedures during the period of time, and after, the alleged harassment or discrimination was occurring.' Harris spokeswoman Lilly Adams told The Bee that the freshman senator did not know about the harassment allegations at all.
