Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama was taken to the CID headquarters on Tuesday to record a statement over hate speech allegations. There was a brief scuffle during the arrest as police wanted to take the MP to the CID headquarters on Kiambu Road in their own vehicle. Muthama had been earlier been placed on house arrest after police surrounded his home in Gigiri. Other leaders summoned by IG Joseph Boinnet were Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) and Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi woman representative).
