Share TweetBy Vanne Elaine TerrazolaThe Senate ratified on Monday night the final version of the bill granting the Solar Para Sa Bayan Corporation (SPSB), a congressional franchise to operate in several provinces of the country, but with one of its sponsors voting against it. HB 8179 seeks to give a 25-year franchise to the SPSB, a solar power company using micro-grid technolgy. “A distribution utility can have interruptions because of fluctuations of solar power plants, typhoons, and even shortage of supply leading to red alerts. Once ratified in both chambers of Congress, the SPSB franchise bill would be enrolled for President Duterte’s signature.
