Usagi, known locally as Ofel, intensified into a super typhoon as it made landfall in the town of Baggao in Cagayan province on November 14 afternoon. Meanwhile, authorities are monitoring Typhoon Man-yi, forecasted to make landfall in eastern towns and the Manila region this weekend. Currently intensifying over the Western Pacific, Man-yi could escalate to super typhoon status by early November 17.
