Cynthia Villar said on Monday the Senate could hold next month a parallel probe into the “parked pork” scam supposedly involving billions of funds inserted in the proposed 2019 budget. “We still don’t know and we are not part in the investigation so the Senate will have to wait for the House probe result,” she said. Sen. Panfilo Lacson last week exposed the “parked pork” scam, a new kickback scheme by lawmakers, where big amounts are “parked” in a legislative district by well-connected congressmen. Andaya on Sunday said a mayor from the Bicol region had approached him and claimed that a former Cabinet member, now seeking an elective seat, was responsible for this. “The mayor, who requested not to be named in the meantime, disclosed that the Cabinet member parked the allocation in flood-mitigation projects for the region.
