WASHINGTON—The Senate Intelligence Committee is just getting started on a review and inquiry into the whistleblower complaint that has rocked Capitol Hill this week. Missouri Republican Roy Blunt, a Senate Intelligence Committee member, told reporters it was his hope and expectation that the panel would be able to hear directly from the whistleblower. “I do, and I believe we will,” Blunt, a member of Senate GOP leadership, said after the hours-long meeting. It’s another demonstration of the different approach the Senate Intelligence Committee has taken in comparison to its House counterpart in investigations involving the president. California Sen. Kamala Harris adjusted her presidential campaign schedule to make the intelligence committee meeting, and fellow 2020 Democratic hopeful Michael Bennet of Colorado was also present.
