Peter Fitzek, the self-declared "King of Germany", in court. A court on Wednesday sentenced Peter Fitzek, the self-declared "King of Germany", to jail for setting up an illegal bank and embezzling up €1.3 million of deposits. Around 600 people banked with him, entrusting him with deposits totalling around €1.7 million ($1.8 million). Dressed in a blue shirt with a logo of his "kingdom", Fitzek interrupted the sentencing, shouting "joke", "scandal" and "lies". Once dismissed simply as crackpots, the Reichsbürger movement is being seen as an increasing threat after several members opened fire on police in recent months.
