Photo: DPAOne of Germany's highest courts ruled in November that the government should invite US whistleblower Edward Snowden to Berlin for questioning. The NSA investigative committee was set up in 2014 to investigate German-American spying activities in the wake of the Snowden leaks revealing widespread government surveillance. The opposition originally requested in 2014 that Snowden come before the parliamentary committee. But the Social Democrats and Christian Democrats who make up the majority on the committee resisted the request.
