Stock events occur when an influential person or group tweets something specifically about a company’s stock. Company events happen when tweets about the company itself are released by prominent news organizations or influential investors. For example, when legendary investor Carl Icahn announced that he had taken a large position in Apple ($AAPL), shares rose more than 4% over the next 24 hours. Telsa stock rose almost 3% on Musk’s tweet about its new semi truck and pickup truck products and has even been known to taunt those who bet against Tesla stock.
